THE K CLUB

WELCOME BACK

The K Club is very proud to host the 2023 Horizon Irish Open. We are delighted to welcome the competitors and spectators back to our glorious 550-acre estate that has been on quite the journey these past three years under the leadership of our new owner Michael Fetherston.

We last hosted this incredible tournament back in 2016 when Rory McIlroy took his first Irish Open victory and we are lucky to have him back this year alongside a stellar field set to tee up this week including: Shane Lowry, Seamus Power, Tyrrell Hatton, Min Woo Lee and Billy Horschel. We’d also like to give special mention to Tom McKibbin who is making his first professional appearance at the Horizon Irish Open. Welcome all, and it’s safe to say we can expect an exciting competition ahead of us.

Golf at The K Club is built on a trailblazing legacy and we are proud to have hosted some of Ireland’s most memorable golfing tournaments including 13 European Opens, 1 Challenge Tour, the 2016 Irish Open, and the 2006 Ryder Cup. Our two Arnold Palmer-designed golf courses have certainly seen some action! It’s this rich history that has made our resort synonymous with tournament golf in Ireland.

Since Michael and his family took over the estate, we’ve made it our mission to invest in Irish golf and support up and coming golfers. In 2022 we hosted Europe’s largest PGA Pro-Am. And just a few short months ago we hosted Ireland’s largest single day PGA Pro-Am. The PGA choosing The K Club here in Kildare as its new home is testament to the support the association has received from us over the years and we’re excited to have two touring professionals – Seamus Power and Leona Maguire – as part of our team for the 2022/23 season.

We’re sure you’ve noticed by now that we’ve been busy investing. Investing in our people, investing in our facilities, our fairways, our clubhouses, and the resort as a whole. From groundbreaking work on the fairways, to state-of-the-art tech in K Golf World, every cent has been put towards creating a golf resort that is up there with the world’s best. Ensuring the best playing conditions for our members and guests and investing in our future. With two further Irish Opens set for 2025 and 2027, and two Irish Challenge Tours still to come, our legacy of elite golf continues.

I would like to acknowledge the DP World Tour team with whom it has been a pleasure to collaborate with. And I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful team at The K Club, who, as always, have gone above and beyond, demonstrating passion and drive to ensure the success of the 2023 Horizon Irish Open.

Best of luck to the competitors and welcome all to The K Club. It’s time to play!
