WELCOME FROM

FIRST MINISTER OF SCOTLAND

It is a pleasure to welcome the world’s best male golfers back to Scotland to compete in the Genesis Scottish Open. Once again, the tournament’s field is a strong testament to the standing and history of the Scottish Open, and I’m delighted to see the various partners involved in the event working together and continuing to elevate the standing of our national Men’s Open.

cotland is known as the Home of Golf, with a global reputation as a world-class golf tourism and events destination. We are proud to host some of the best courses in the world, and I am sure that The Renaissance Club in East Lothian on Scotland’s Golf Coast will once again prove a fitting test for the players and a wonderful venue for spectators to enjoy.

Last year was an exciting year for golf in Scotland, with an unprecedented programme of events, including The 150th Open at St Andrews which generated over £300 million in economic benefit for Scotland. Golf is clearly intertwined with Scotland’s culture, and tournaments such as this week bring a direct positive impact to both the area, and Scotland as a whole. As the pictures, images and stories from the  Genesis Scottish Open are shared around the world,  I hope many more visitors will be inspired to visit Scotland as a result.

My sincere thanks go to  DP World Tour for their diligence and commitment to staging this top-class event here in Scotland. I hope that all those attending the championship or following it – from wherever you are in the world – enjoy the action, and I wish the very best of luck to the players.

Rt Hon Humza Yousaf MSP, First Minister of Scotland
